Washington State gender marker/birth certificates

Requirements to change Washington gender marker when I did it (Last year)

-Letter signed by counselor/psychiatrist
-Change of birth certificate gender, or proof that state won't change certificate
-Cost of a new ID

Current requirements:

Change your gender designation

If you would like to change the gender designation on your driver license or ID card to accurately reflect your identity:
  1. Complete a Adobe PDF iconDriver License or ID Card Change of Gender Designation Request.
    • You must fill out the “Applicant” section of the form.
    • Your licensed medical physician, osteopathic physician, or psychologist must fill out the “Physician” section of the form.
  2. Mail the completed application to the address on the form, with all of the following:
    • A photocopy of your current Washington driver license or ID card.
    • If you want to change the name on your license, you must also include an original or certified copy of your Court Ordered Name Change.
